Led by Ralph Scala, with guest artists Christa Assad + Sam Harvey, this inaugural workshop will focus on the design + construction of Taller de Terreno’s multiple fuel kiln, the V9. Participants will learn the processes + techniques involved in the construction of a brick car-kiln that is built into the natural landscape. Daily activities include: pottery demonstrations, discussions + practice of construction techniques, basic brick-cutting, stacking + mudding. These activities will be interspersed with creative studio time, one-on-one instruction, + recreational time. The stunning surroundings of tropical desert, mountains and Pacific coastline beckon to be explored.
